Diagrams, Now in Chat

Assessments produce two kinds of understanding. Some of it is quantitative — counts, distributions, how a number moved over time — and the AI can already turn that into a chart inline in the conversation. But just as often, what you need to see is structure: how a process flows, which decision leads where, how the pieces of your environment connect to one another. Prose can describe that, but a picture shows it. With this release, the AI can draw diagrams — flowcharts, sequence diagrams, and similar structural visuals — directly in the assessment chat, rendered right where the answer appears.
This is the companion to charts. Where a chart is the right answer for numbers and trends, a diagram is the right answer for structure, process, and relationships. Ask the AI to walk you through how a sign-in flow works, to lay out the decision tree behind a finding, or to map how a set of resources depend on one another, and it responds with an actual rendered diagram instead of only a paragraph about it.
Charts for numbers, diagrams for structure
You don't switch modes or pick a format. You ask your question in plain language, and the AI renders whichever visual communicates the answer most clearly — a chart when you're asking about magnitude or change over time, a diagram when you're asking about shape. A question like "how many sign-ins failed each day last week" has a chart-shaped answer. A question like "walk me through what happens when someone signs in from a non-compliant device" has a diagram-shaped one.
That makes diagrams a natural fit for the parts of an assessment that are about how things fit together rather than how much. Good candidates are a process you want explained step by step, a decision tree behind a conditional outcome, or a set of relationships — how app registrations map to the permissions they hold, or how one resource depends on another. In each case the AI can answer with a picture that carries the structure at a glance.

Diagrams render inline, in place, as part of the AI's answer — there's no attachment to download and no separate viewer to open. Here is the kind of diagram the feature produces, rendered live on this page with the same diagram language the chat uses. It sketches the shape of an assessment conversation itself: you ask a question, the AI investigates through its tools until it has gathered enough evidence, and then it answers — sometimes, as here, with a diagram of its own.
Notice there's nothing decorative in that picture — no hand-picked colors, no layout tuning. That's deliberate. Diagrams stay simple so they render reliably and read clearly, and in the chat they follow your light or dark theme automatically, staying legible whichever one you're using.
Zoom in on a dense diagram
Some diagrams pack a lot into a small space — a wide dependency map, or a long sequence with many participants and steps. Click any rendered diagram to open it in a larger zoom view, where you can read every label and trace every connection without squinting. The inline version keeps the conversation compact and scannable; the zoom view is there the moment a diagram has more detail than a thumbnail can carry.
A diagram that doesn't render, repaired on the spot
Occasionally the AI's first attempt at a diagram doesn't come out as something that renders. When that happens, InfraScout doesn't leave you looking at broken markup or raw text. It automatically retries once, and most hiccups clear on that second pass. If a diagram still won't render after the retry, a button appears right where the picture should be — trigger it to run a one-shot repair on the spot. Either way you end up with a diagram rather than a dead end, and you never have to re-ask your original question to get there.
