A Dedicated Inventory Page for Every Agent
June 25, 2026 · InfraScout Team
In April we launched Inventory: every connected agent keeps a persistent record of what it is and what it's running — system facts, installed software, services, and certificates — refreshed on a schedule and on demand. Until now you reached that record by asking InfraScout in chat. Today it gets a home in the dashboard. Each agent has a dedicated Inventory page where you can browse the latest snapshot visually, see what changed recently, and review past collections — no chat prompt required.
Where to find it
The Inventory page opens straight from the places you already manage agents. On the agent card, an Inventory action takes you there in one click. Admins also get a View Inventory button inside the agent details view, so you can drop into the full record without leaving the screen you're already on.
The page leads with the agent's identity and connectivity, alongside when inventory was last collected — so before you read a single fact, you know whose host you're looking at and how fresh the data is. A change-summary strip sits just below the header, surfacing the key movements from the last 24 hours at a glance: what was added, removed, or changed, by category.
Three views of the same record
The page organizes everything into three tabs.
Current is the latest snapshot, the same record InfraScout reads during an assessment. It's broken into panels for System, Software, Services, and Certificates. The Software panel is searchable and paginated, so finding a specific package on a host with thousands of installed applications stays fast. If a collection only partly succeeded — some collectors ran, others errored — a banner tells you so, so you never mistake a partial snapshot for a complete one.
Changes answers "what moved?" over a window, defaulting to the last 24 hours. It groups the differences by type and category, so you can see at a glance whether software shifted, a service changed state, or a certificate came or went.
History is the trail of past collections, newest first and paginated. Each entry is trimmed to its metadata and per-category counts, giving you a scannable timeline of how a host evolved without loading every full snapshot at once. When you spot a collection worth a closer look, you know exactly when it happened.
Refresh on demand
Scheduled collection keeps inventory current on its own, but sometimes you want the latest state right now — you just patched a host, removed an application, or rotated a certificate and want to confirm it landed. The Refresh button triggers an on-demand collection from the page. While it runs, you see a clear "Collecting…" state that clears the moment the fresh snapshot arrives.
If the agent is offline or otherwise unreachable, the page tells you instead of leaving you waiting. And if a collection takes unusually long, the in-progress state stops after about 90 seconds so the page never hangs indefinitely.
TIP
Refresh is the visual counterpart to the "Collect Inventory Now" trigger you already know. Click it, watch the snapshot land, and the Current tab updates with what the agent just reported.
Extra signal for admins
Admins see one more thing on the page: an inventory status badge. It tells you whether inventory for that agent is online, offline, or stale, when the last collection ran and when the next is due, and which collection policy currently applies to the host. That's the operational picture in a single glance — useful when you're verifying that a group's policy is actually taking effect, or chasing down why a host's record looks older than expected.
Try it
Open any agent in the dashboard and choose Inventory from its card — or, as an admin, View Inventory from the agent details. Start on the Current tab to see what the host is running, switch to Changes to see what moved in the last day, and check History for the longer trail. If the record looks out of date, hit Refresh and watch the new snapshot arrive.
The chat experience hasn't gone anywhere. Fleet-wide and historical questions are still best asked in conversation, and InfraScout still reads the same record during every assessment. The new page simply gives you a place to look when you want to browse one agent's record with your own eyes.
