Pop-Out Chat, Starter Prompts, and a Shared Live View
July 14, 2026 · InfraScout Team
An InfraScout assessment often runs for minutes at a time, and the way you interact with it should keep up. This release brings three improvements to chat that make a long conversation easier to live with: you can pop a running conversation out into a floating panel and keep working elsewhere in the portal, a brand-new chat now greets you with curated starter prompts instead of a blank page, and a slow tool call shows up on a second device the moment it starts rather than only after the step is done.
Pop the conversation out and keep working
A conversation no longer has to stay pinned to the chat page. You can pop it out into a compact, floating panel that stays on top as you move around the portal — open an agent's inventory, review a past execution, or check a dashboard while the assessment keeps running behind you. It is the same live session you popped out, still streaming, not a second connection to the same chat. What you see in the floating panel is exactly what is happening in the conversation, rendered as compact messenger-style bubbles that fit the smaller space.
The panel is yours to place. Drag it anywhere on the screen and resize it to taste, and InfraScout remembers where you left it for next time. When you want it out of the way without ending anything, minimize it to a small button in the corner — the turn keeps running while it is tucked away, and one tap brings it back or jumps you to the full chat page. Closing the panel simply dismisses the floating view; the conversation stays alive in the background, so you can reopen it and pick up right where you were.
The composer stays available the whole time the panel is open. If you think of a refinement while the AI is mid-turn, type it into the floating panel and send — it lands in the same running conversation, just as mid-loop steering works on the full chat page.
Starter prompts for a fresh chat
A brand-new chat used to open on an empty canvas with no hint of where to begin. Now it greets you with a small set of curated conversation openers, drawn from real assessment scenarios — a tenant security overview, an Active Directory assessment, a sign-in log check, a sharing report, and more. They double as a reminder of what an InfraScout conversation can actually take on, so a blank thread becomes an invitation to act.
Each opener shows its full question, so you know exactly what you are about to ask. Selecting one prefills the composer and puts your cursor in it — it never sends on its own. That means you can tweak the wording, swap in a specific domain or date range, or add a constraint before you commit. Every fresh chat draws a new handful of openers, and the panel disappears the moment you send your first message. An existing conversation never shows it.
TIP
Treat a starter prompt as a first draft. Prefilling the composer is the whole point — narrow the scope, name the tenant or OU you care about, or add a read-only constraint before you send.
A live view that follows you across devices
Some steps in an assessment take a while. When the AI spins up a task agent to run a focused sub-investigation, that single tool call can work for up to several minutes before it returns. Until now, if you had the same conversation open on a second browser or another device, that long-running call stayed invisible there until the entire step finished — the second view looked stalled even though work was clearly happening on the first.
That gap is closed. A slow tool call now appears as running on every device watching the conversation the instant it starts, not minutes later when it completes. Open a review on your laptop, keep an eye on it from a tablet, and both show the same task agent turning while it works. The second view updates itself as the call resolves, without you needing to reload.
The same change makes an interrupted session recover more gracefully. If a conversation is disrupted while a tool call is still in flight, InfraScout no longer leaves that call hanging in an ambiguous state — it settles the call cleanly so the transcript reflects what really happened, and you can carry on in the same chat.
Try it
Open a chat and start something substantial — a tenant security review or a fleet-wide check you know will run for a while. Pop it out, drag the panel aside, and browse the portal while it streams. Start a fresh conversation and pick a starter prompt, then edit it before sending. If you have a second device handy, open the same conversation there and watch a task agent appear as it runs.
